This project addresses the question of how architecture can address the changing socio-political culture of a post-soviet Russia through the creation of a new hybrid housing type. It attempts to address both the persistent yet ephemeral nature of Russian society and reinforces the value system created through communal housing and altered states of privatization; thus, questioning the western notion of value in ownership and private property. Conceptually this project seeks to explain the unique spatial realities of shared space, public-private space and question the notion of property as the resultants of the transitioned Russian housing types.
