c. Employee recognition awards for superior performance, or for years of service, and upon retirement. Value of the award may not exceed $100 in value as determined by the City Manager. d. Council/Board dinners for recognition of service or discussion of joint goals and objectives. e. Employee involvement in community activities. For example, this might include paying to allow employees to have a float in the Flagfest Parade. f. Purchase of flowers in memoriam of public service, with a maximum of $75. g. Annually, at the end of the calendar year, each Department may receive designated funds related to participating in and promoting safety practices in their respective Departments. Each Department may use such funds to sponsor an employee event recognizing their employee’s safety accomplishments. The cost of the elements of the Employee Recognition Program will be included in the City of Spencer Annual Budget. This item will be approved annually by the City Council as part of the overall budget approval process which includes a public hearing on the proposed budget. 2. Employee Wellness and Safety Programs The City Council recognizes the importance of employee fitness and health as it relates to the overall work and life satisfaction of the employees and the overall impact on the City’s health insurance program. As such, the City Council supports the Employees Healthy Living Program, which is designed to educate employees on fitness.health issues. The City recognizes the importance to providing a safe environment for the City's employees to work in. The City supports programs created by the Safety Committee to promote and maintain a safe work environment. Safety incentive programs may be developed by the Safety Committee to recognize employees for accident/injury-free work days. The cost of the Employee Wellness and Safety Programs will be included in the City of Spencer Annual Budget.
