Spencer Golf & Country Club The Spencer Golf & Country Club is a classic tree-lined 18-hole championship layout with four sets of tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Golf...Quality Dining…Lifelong Friends” . If you are passing by or visiting Spencer, the Spencer Golf & Country Club is open to public golfers every day. The golf course also specializes in golf outings, business meetings, banquets and receptions. One of the marquee events distinguishing the Spencer Golf & Country Club is the Northwest Iowa Amateur Golf Tournament. This four-day tournament began in 1921 and continues to be the only 72-hole amateur tournament in the State of Iowa. The Northwest Iowa Amateur Tournament draws in 350-400 golfers annually.

Spencer Municipal Golf Course According to the Municipal Golf Course’s web page at http://spencermunigolf.com, some form of golf dates to 1904 in Spencer. The city’s original golf course was located where the Clay County fairgrounds are today. The Spencer Municipal Golf Course began in 1976 when the city purchased the Grandview Golf Course.

Over the years this golf course has grown considerably from the small 9-hole course originally purchased. At its peak, the municipal course had 406 season passes and more than 23,000 golfers annually. In 1999, the Municipal Golf Course experienced extensive renovation when 82 acres of land was purchased to make an 18- hole course. Today, Spencer Municipal Golf Course is a beautifully manicured course that measures 6,809 yards from the back tees and 5,218 yards from the forward tees. The course has Providence Bentgrass greens, features 34 sand traps, greenside mounding and several water hazards.
