Northwest Iowa Soccer Club Through the many efforts of volunteer coaches, referees, players and the Board of Directors, the Northwest Iowa Soccer Club provides opportunities for both recreational league and competitive team soccer in Spencer, Iowa. The Soccer Club plays at the Soccerplex just to the northeast of the Pederson Park ball fields along the east side of Spencer. Within the Soccerplex are twelve (12) soccer fields ranging in size depending upon the age of the players. The Northwest Iowa Soccer Club offers recreational soccer teams for children ranging in ages from Kindergarten

through the 8 th grade. The teams in Spencer include U6, U8, U10, U12 and U14. For those kids interested in more than just recreational soccer, the Galaxy League competitive soccer was formed in 2006 and is intended for those players who want to take their play to the next level. The Spencer Galaxy team is a traveling competitive team that gets an opportunity to play many different teams from across the country and even some foreign teams. Each year, the Galaxy team hosts a large tournament in Spencer which brings hundreds of players, teams, and family members to our community for this soccer tournament.

Midwest Youth Football League

Spencer has several teams participating in the Midwest Youth Football League (MYFL). The MYFL is a summer league for youth interested in pursuing a continued growth in the sport of football. Spencer is one of 23 teams comprised of youth in communities across northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. The Midwest Youth Football League was founded in 2000 in Spencer. That first year there were two 3 rd & 4 th grade teams and two 5 th & 6 th grade teams. Fifteen years later, in the summer of 2015, the MYFL has grown to 24 - 3 rd & 4 th grade teams, 24 - 5 th grade teams and 24 - 6 th grade teams. As stated on the MYFL website,

Spencer YMCA Tigersharks Swim Team The Spencer Tigersharks are a competitive group swim team hosted by the Spencer Family YMCA. The Spencer Tigersharks compete in YMCA swimming competitions from November through March. The Spencer team competes against other swim teams from cities across Iowa and southern Minnesota. There is also an annual swimmeet held in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Spencer Tigersharks also participate in the Greater Iowa Swim League comprised of competitive teams from Emmetsburg, Fort Dodge, Carroll, Spencer and others.
