FIRE DEPARTMENT The Spencer Fire Department is staffed by five (5) full time employees, consisting of the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, and three firefighters/engineers. In addition to the full time staff, the Spencer Fire Department is served by approximately 30 volunteer firefighters who serve the community. The Fire Station is located at 10 Grand Avenue, on the south end of Spencer’s historic downtown commercial district. The fire department has started a program which allows high school students with an interest in fire service the chance to help in safe zones of fires. The fire department responds to a wide variety of calls other than fires. The department is equipped with vehicles that carry equipment for other types of assistance. In the past, the Spencer Fire Department has also responded to water rescues, car accidents, trenching accidents,

search and rescue, gas leaks, spills, industrial accidents, aircraft emergencies, emergency medical calls, and in assisting law enforcement with evidence recovery. In addition to providing many services for the Spencer area, the Spencer Fire Department also participates in yearly service projects including Flagfest, Holiday Adoption Program, school functions and many others .

SPENCER AMBULANCE SERVICE The Spencer Hospital is the primary ambulance service in the community and surrounding area. Currently, the hospital has 19 EMS providers on staff, and has a fleet of three ambulances at Spencer Hospital. The hospital’s ambulance team is based in the Emergency Department, located on the northeast side of the hospital campus. Spencer Hospital’s ambulance team is certified as a critical care service providing specially trained staff to assist those in critical condition. While the hospital is the primary responder, the Spencer Fire Department has medically trained employees and volunteers who also respond to medical emergencies.
