C HAPTER E DUCATION SPENCER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS The City of Spencer is served by five school buildings and a central administration building serving the Spencer Community School District. There are three (3) elementary schools in Spencer comprised of Johnson (grades PreK-1), Fairview (grades 2-3), and Lincoln (grades 4-5) schools. The Spencer Middle School, constructed in 2006, offers individual education pods for grades 6-8. The Spencer High School provides instruction for those in 9-12 th grades. Both the middle school and high school are located on the east side of Spencer. A recently completed, more than $11 million dollar construction project at the High School 8 .

Spencer High School

resulted in a new main entrance, new school offices, a performing arts theatre, and music rooms. The school district’s central administration building is located at 23 East 7 th Street near the north end of downtown Spencer. As indicated on the school district’s website, the Spencer School District is a cornerstone of the community. Working together, the entire community provides a dynamic, child- centered education where students feel included, respected and valued.
