The Housing Authority of the County of Riverside is a public agency chartered by the State of California to administer the development, rehabilitation or financing of affordable housing programs. The mission of the Housing Authority is to transform and promote healthy, thriving communities, re-ignite hope and restore human dignity through the creation and preservation of high quality and innovative housing and community development programs which enhance the quality of life and revitalize neighborhoods to foster self-sufficiency. The Housing Authority has been serving Riverside County for over 60 years. WHAT WE DO

Highlights Housing Choice Voucher Section 8 (HCV) Program The HCV Program is a HUD-funded rental assistance program that subsidizes themonthly rent for over 9,000 low- income families throughout Riverside County. Households are re-certified for continued assistance once a year. For the past 14 years, HUD has rated the Housing Authority as a “High Performer” agency for its part in administering this program. Shelter Plus Care The Housing Authority‘s Shelter Plus Care Program is the largest provider of permanent housing for homeless persons with disabilities in the County of Riverside Continuum of Care network. During fiscal year 2016/17, Shelter Plus Care provided rental assistance and supportive services to 15 new formerly homeless participants who were added to the program. Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) The HOPWA Program provides an array of housing services for low-income Riverside County households affected by HIV/AIDS. During the 2016/17 fiscal year, the HOPWA Program provided 486 individuals with direct financial services in the form of permanent rental subsidies, short term rent, mortgage and utility assistance, deposit assistance, housing information services and housing case management.

Security Deposit Assistance (SDA) Program The SDA Program is funded through County of Riverside Home Investment Partnership Act (HOME) funds. The program provides up to 50% of the security deposit payment to help low-income households, including those that are homeless, find units that are safe, affordable and close to resources. During the 2016/17 fiscal year, 244 households received much needed security deposit assistance, which eliminated a major barrier to accessing housing, even with a rental voucher. Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) The Housing Authority continues to provide rapid re-housing and homeless prevention services to homeless families and families at imminent risk of/or experiencing homelessness. During the 2016/17 fiscal year, 126 households received rapid re-housing and prevention assistance. Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program The VASH Program is a collaboration between the Housing Authority and the Loma Linda VAMedical Center aimed at addressing the unique needs of homeless veterans. During the 2016/17 fiscal year, the VASH Program provided over 450 homeless veterans with monthly rental assistance. Approximately 102 of those formerly homeless veterans were newly added to the VASH program.
