Water-soluble welding dams At the Schweissen & Schneiden show in September, Weld-Tech introduced new developments, including EZ Dams. EZ Dams are made of soluble paper. Due to the composition of the paper and tape, it will dissolve completely without any risk of residue in the pipe.

EZ Dams were developed for welding of stainless steel pipes or fittings, to ensure the weld area is oxygen free. Because they are a pre-formed water- soluble dam, the welder just needs to insert the dam into the pipe and tape it with the strip of water-soluble tape provided. After the weld, the dams can be dissolved and flushed out by water or steam.

This makes it suitable for all industries welding stainless steel, including nuclear, food, oil and gas, and shipyards. Weld-Tech will sell the EZ Dams in any required quantity, to ensure the most cost-effective solution to the contractor.
