-Freshman All-American (Baseball America & Collegiate Baseball) -Named the 2004 WCC/Rawlings Freshman of the Year -2004 USO team leader.. 375. batting ave., 9 HR, .572 slugging % -Struck out just 13 times in 227 plate appearances in '04 Freshman in 2004 Garnered Freshmen All-American honors by Baseball America and Col– legiate Baseball News... Named the 2004 West Coast Conference/Rawl– ings Freshman of the Year... Also honored as a second team AII-WCC selection .. . Hit for a team-leading .375 batting average (2nd overall in the WCC)... Abruzzo's wee numbers were outstanding, he lead the league in total bases (84), ranked second in homeruns (7), average (.411), hits (53), runs scored (31) and RBI (37), also ranked third in slugging% (.656)... Started a total of 49 games, with injury limiting his playing time in January and early February... Despite missing seven starts, led San Diego in total bases (11 9) and homeruns (9)... Struck out just 13 times in 227 plate appearances... Posted 13 multi-hit games, totaling 2 or more hits in 8 of USD's last 13 outings, helping USO win 11 of those contests.. Homered four times in the last two weeks of the regular season... Twice hit homeruns from both sides of the plate in a weekend series... Named the WCC/Rawlings Player of the Week (5/24) after going 8-for-14 (.571 BA) with nine RB l's, two homeruns and four doubles during a USO three– game sweep over WCC foe St. Mary's... Posted 4 hits (season and career high) twice... Went 4-for-6 (HR, 3 RBI , 2 R) vs. Gonzaga (5/8) ... Ripped St. Mary's (5/24), going 4-for-5 (HR, 2B, 4 RBI , 3R)... Finished the regular season on a seven game hitting streak, posting a .515 average (17-of-33), hilting 4 homeruns, 5 doubles and totaling 15 RBI over that span... On the season Abruzzo posted an on-base % of .417... Helped the Toreros total 35 wins during the 2004 regular season, the third best win total in USO school history. Prep Starred at El Capitan High School in nearby El Cajon... Was a First-Team All-State selection, hilting .455 with 8 HR and 44 RB l's as a prep senior.. Led El Capitan to a 26-8 overall record and a CIF Championship in 2003.. As a junior hit .430 with 7 HR and 45 RBl's and was named an AII-Gross– mont North League player... Helped El Capitan compile a 25-10 record his junior year... Played for the Encinitas Reds club program on a team that reached the Connie Mack World Series. Personal Born on August 2, 1984 in San Diego, California... Son of Steve and Marsha Abruzzo... Also recruited by Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount.. Brother, Spike played collegiate baseball. .. Chose to attend USO for the academic and athletic opportunities.

Prep Played at Laguna Beach High School. .. Named team MVP and was the school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior... 1st team All-Pacific Coast League player, hitting .404 and stealing 18 bases his senior year... As a junior, was named a 2nd team AII-PCL performer and the Breaker's Most Valuable Pitcher... During his sophomore season , Beck was Laguna's Most Valuable Defensive Player... Coached by Mike Schubert at Laguna and also played for the Orange County Yard Dogs club team. Personal Business Administration major at USO .. Chose to attend USO for the strong academic programs.. Born on July 24, 1985.. Son of Bob and Sue Beck.
