San Diego (35-21) USO totaled 35 wins against one of th e nation's toughest schedules, establishing a strong case for an at-large berth into the 2004 NCAA Regionals. The Toreros went 15-2 over its last 17 games, including claiming eight consecutive three-game series. USD's strength of schedule outside of the WCC ranked No. 12 in the nation at season's end . USO defeated each of the top five teams in the Big West, a pair of wins over Pac-10 opponents and victories in each of its last five non-conference games overall. USO is the winningest team in the wee over the past three years (106-74). San Diego had 9 players sign pro contracts fol lowing the 2004 season , including a school record five being drafted by MLB. As a team, USO finished the 2004 season ranked 7th nationally in team bat- ., ting average (.328).
