VIII. The Summary of Worship: Glorifying God in God-Pleasing Harmony

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

A. Members of the household of God: worship as the expression of saved spirits

B. Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ as the Chief and Precious Cornerstone: worship as the response to God’s historical self-revelation through his Word

C. Joined together as a holy temple in the Lord: worship as the people of God becoming a holy sanctuary where his praises dwell

D. Built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit: we ourselves are the place where God’s praises originate and where he dwells. E. All that we are and do can harmonize together as leaders, congregation, and worship team into a praise offering sweet and pure enough for our God to dwell!
