Ducklings Room News

The Ducklings have been very busy exploring this month! We have had lots of new little Ducklings join throughout September and we must say that they are all doing so well! They are making special bonds with their Key Person and becoming familiar with their environment. As we prepare for Autumn, the Ducklings enjoyed an Autumn walk to Roundhay Park where we looked at all the trees changing colour and the fallen leaves on the floor. We spoke about the different colours such as red, yellow green and orange. We collected our favourite leaves and explored the textures closer in a tough tray when we got back to nursery. We also saw goslings and ducklings on our walk and stopped to have a look, the Ducklings really enjoyed the walk and were using lots of single words throughout such as “leaf, quack and duck!” We have also been celebrating Italy as our Country of the Month, the Ducklings have been painting flags using their mark-making skills and we have been becoming familiar with the colours red and green. The Ducklings all took part in an Italian cooking class and made some healthy tortilla pizzas. The children used their fine motor skills to add their favourite toppings such as cheese, tomato and basil. We then cooked our pizzas in the oven and enjoyed them for our tea…yum!
