standard. The final report will be sent to the OMB for approval prior to being submitted to Codex. The OMB reviewed the proposed documentation and subsequently approved the ERP members based on submitted votes. d. Review of Proposed AOAC Call for Methods – Discussion lead by Boyd. Currently, the call for methods are not yielding viable results. AOAC has noted several possible reasons, for example: 1. Deadlines to submit methods is too soon 2. Not understanding validation or the review process 3. Not understanding what happens to intellectual property 4. Readability of the Call for Methods Three calls for methods were included for the OMB to review and advise staff of what information could be missing and if there are other approaches in which to attract potential method authors. The calls are sent to the AOAC communities and placed on the website. There may be a concern if method authors submit, they could be committing to additional work. A suggestion of using list‐serves could be useful as well as other associations and labs. In addition, with the readability of the call, it could be less wordy and not include a lot of AOAC specific phrases and wording (it doesn’t help if you’re not familiar). Other suggestions included instructions on the commitment level as well as what is involved when submitting a method. Also, have an independent person other than the method author who is willing to facilitate a method through on their behalf; to oversee an SLV/collaborative study as the study director. Additional discussion to take place during the extended or in‐person meeting. Update on Working Group on Codex STAN 234 Rubric Update – Phillips provided additional information on this agenda items which was discussed earlier during the meeting. The timeline is currently dictated by organizations outside AOAC and with the approval of the ERP members, we are hoping to have the reviews done by the deadline. b. Update on Technical Advisory Group – Crowley provided the update including background information. This group was formed two (2) years ago with the development of a list of on‐going items that come to the OMB with some containing policy changes and others proposed with the publishing of technical memos such as, definition of LOD, statistical technical memos, quantitative acceptance criteria (micro), measurement uncertainty, etc. The working group met two (2) weeks ago to prioritize the list and to solicit a co‐chair (Sidney Sudberg is the current chair), who is not on the statistical committee to provide a differing viewpoint. The OMB is requesting members to participate in the working group as co‐chair or join as a member. c. Update on Working Group on OMA Appendices – Crowley continued with the appendices update. The working group also met two (2) weeks ago to review the current AOAC appendices on which needed revisions or removal. The group will review all the appendices and make a decision on how to proceed. Crowley also requested additional members to join the working group. d. Revised Proposal for Committee on Safety Terms of Reference – Salfinger provided an update on the status on the terms of reference (ToR) for the safety committee. It was last updated/revised in 1999. Other documents were revised and provided for review along with Appendix B. The ToR is needed to place a call for members; the committee is currently down to two (2) members. Include information for the next meeting. OFFICIAL METHODS BOARD COMMITTEES AND WORKING GROUPS a.
