All and all, table 1 indicates that the CSIT member organizations have strong European origins. This was the case particularly before the Second World War which has been the most active period in the history of the CSIT. The war and particularly the Nazi period in certain parts of Europe broke down the suc- cess of the worker sport movement. However, the opening of sport for all programs to new partners in and outside of Europe has brought new memberships and a stronger role to the CSIT as a world confederation. About the (sub)continental members, we found that the Confederation of Workers Sport of Pan-America (the COPADET) joined the CSIT in 1993, that is, nine years earlier than the European Balkan Association for Workers Sport (the BAWS) in 2002. The third continen- tal member, the African Labor Sports Organ- isation (the ALSO), was accepted as a CSIT member in 2005. The role of leading figures has been im- portant in building the continental collabora- tion. For example, the former CSIT president Maurice Deveen negotiated the collaboration between Europe and Americas with the INDET president Jorge Conzales Meza in 1991 in con- junction with the International Marathon of the Workers organized by the INDET in Mexi- co City (Meza 2012). As written above, the CO- PADET was established in 1993. The official agreement of collaboration between the CSIT and the COPADET was prepared and signed by president Jorge Conzales Meza and presi- dent of the CSIT Kalevi Olin during the CSIT

1) Excluded in the CSIT Rio de Janeiro Congress in October 2011 because of unpaid membership fees.
