to be invited to the United Nations headquar- ters in Geneva, Switzerland, on a special Fo- rum on Sport for Development and Peace. A number of high ranked personalities gathered to look at sport as a catalyst for achieving the Millennium Development Goals and develop- ing a culture of peace. Sport is considered as one of the most powerful tools and vehicles for social change. For the CSIT, there is a won- derful opportunity to contribute to this ambi- tious concept, where just as in sports, team- work is so relevant and the key to success. Through sport, our world can be made a more equitable, safe and sustainable place. In 2011 the CSIT Congress took an impor- tant step to incorporate the Millennium De- velopment Goals of the United Nations into its statutes as a visible sign and a first contribu- tion (CSIT 2011b). Meaningful solutions to some of the world’s problems may be found in sport. The CSIT is ready to be one part of the whole potential of the sports world. The UN- OSDP will need to provide guidance and as- sistance to harness the potential of sports as a force for the good. First contact with the Spe- cial Adviser of UN Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon, Mr Wilfried Lemke, Germany, was ini- tiated in order to join the Sport for Development and Peace International Work- ing Group. Concluding Remark All the international collaboration is based on a more powerful voice by promoting poten- tially joint programs and by the support of

common sporting political activities. To search for synergy between the cooperating organisations and to explore and to utilise the resources of the different networks is a funda- mental principle of the CSIT; today and in the future.
