Chain_Ranch_Red Dirt_Roundup_Fall_2019

Welcome! Once again, we want to thank you for your interest in our annual fall production sale. Hours of time and effort have gone into bringing you some of the best genetics the Red Angus breed has to offer. We are offering some of our elite donors that have been the foundation of our program. We also have numerous interesting opportunities for both commercial and registered breeders. I have heard purebred breeders tout that they can put as many pounds on a calf by using the right genetics within one breed as you can by crossbreeding, and maybe they can. I’m not going to argue with them. But without a lot of studying and using strictly cowboy logic, mating two purebred breeds will increase your calves’ weaning weights by 50-80 lbs. Not only that, the females of that offspring are hardier and will have more longevity. Red Angus is one of the only breeds that promotes crossbreeding. One of my favorite commercial females is the red baldy, I feel like this female is the ultimate Northwest Oklahoma cow. We have invited two historic Hereford breeders to join us in the Red Dirt Roundup this year. Both families oper- ate right here in Dewey County. We have used their genetics and they have ours to create the ultimate northwest Oklahoma cow, the red baldy. We want to welcome Vanderwork Herefords and P&R Herefords to the sale. You can buy with confidence. These folks have been in the business as long as we have, and their programs work. The Red Angus Association has made great strides with staff, Reds Pro and marketing opportunities, and there is no other breed in the industry that is growing this fast! Yellow-tagged calves topped sales across the nation this summer, and bull sales stayed above average this past spring. Our region has received rain, and if you are thinking about Reds, make plans to attend our event. It takes a host of people to pull off a sale, and much credit is due. We have a crew of guys and gals on the ranch who are second to none, and all of them are like family to me. Thank you Chain Ranch Crew! Every one of you – family or employee – makes this event possible, and you are the engine behind the success of the ranch! We also want to thank Kyle and Lisa Gilchrist; Chad Gordon and his crew at DV Auction; Dr. Jeremy and Katie Schneider; Cross Country Genetics; Holly Holland at BluePrint Media; and Kendall Harsh at Focus Marketing. Finally and most important, we want to thank our Creator for uncountable blessings. “It’s all on loan from God and we’re here to take care of it.” –Ralph Chain Once again, we welcome you to come and eat, explore our ranching history and heritage, and spend the after- noon in beautiful northwest Oklahoma.

Thank you for your interest, Newley Hutchison and The Chain Ranch Family
