SEPTEMBER 2015 BEACON

Vice Commodores Comments…

As summer flies by it is once again time for the club to move into the election process. Over the years that I have been at the club, this event seems to have changed. It used to be a great party time. Candidates decorated the club top to bottom, in every room, every space, in every way imaginable. Trinkets were everywhere, key chains, hats, coozies, you name it we had it. They put on parties, candidates even joined together to put on these events jointly. Maybe onion rings, hot dogs, lunches, drinks, even entertainment. It was a time that the entire NCYC membership got caught up in the election festivities. It generated great comradery and inclusion for all. It was something to look forward to. Then something changed, in the recent years the process has been much more sterile, more like work than fun. I don’t know why the change, but I hope this is the year that we go back to the old festive atmosphere having great fun through the process. Soooooo, I challenge all of the candidates to let loose, go big, make a statement. I challenge the membership to hop in and help your favorite candidate or candidates put on the pageantry and participate and add to the fun. Decorate, decorate, decorate, put on the party, get the trinkets out, I can smell the food already. The rendezvous season has ended, it was great fun, and the events were well attended. We all need to give Rick and Jill a big THANK YOU for their effort and the fun that they generated. Great job!!!! Don’t forget to look at the club calendar, there is still great fun to take part in. See you next weekend, V/C Chuck Stroh
