Torero Football Exit of Excellence

The 1992 campaign for the Torero football teambegan with a victorious battle against Division II nemesis, Cal-State Hayward. As the season progressed, the Toreros completed a sweep of all three of their Division II rivals and finished with a highly successful 7-2-1 record. Conclud– ing their final year as a top Division III team, the Toreros move up to Division I– AA competition next season, headlining the new Pioneer League. Much of their success was due to outstanding senior leadership on both sides of the ball. Lead– ing the offense was the record-breaking Scott Sporrer, nationally ranked Mike Bennett, and bookend tackles Sean Parks and Eric Brown. Spearheading the de– fense was the "never-say-die" Chris Sirek, Stephen Crandall, the team's interception leader, the ferocious hitting of Matt Horeczko, the steady and d ependable Jeff Blazevich, and the ageless Rick Salazaar. In addition, the Toreros fielded an All– American punter in Robert Ray. Next year's squad is fervently preparing for the immense challenges awaiting them . Sup– port your men in uniform.

Tackle! -The Torero defense, led by Rick Salazar (71), Tim Lynch (51) and Bernard Westmoreland (23) bring down a Cal Lutheran runner.
