ing with optimism. According to last year's record, they had nowhere to go but to the top. With several new additions, including the Swedish Olym– pianRoger Lindquist, and high school All-AmericanGuillermo Jara, they felt they would be very hard to beat. They were correct, finishing the season with an astounding 19wins and 4 losses. En route to this turn-around record, they had to conquer several giants that stood in their way. The first of these was the #1 ranked team in the nation, University of Portland, whom they crushed3-0. Coach Seamus McFadden then took his troops up to Westwood,

regions , respectively. The Toreros drew host team Davidson, in the semi-final, and before a full capacity crowd of nearly 9,000 fans, the Toreros defeated Davidson, 3- 2, in overtime. This set up the final between the Toreros and the defending national cham– pions, the University of Vir– ginia. After a grueling battle between two very talented teams, the Cavaliers prevailed, with two late second half goals to put an end to the Toreros "dream season." But with sixteen men return– ing, the Toreros have high hopes for the 1993-1994 season. Congratulations on a great sea– son!

where they faced the very strong UCLA Bruins. Coach Mcfadden always said that "the road out of the West always goes through Westwood," and he was right. The Toreros beat the mighty Bruins to move in to the regional final with the powerhouse Indiana Hoosiers. TheToreros were lucky enough to get the home field advan– tage, and they took advantage of it, defeating the Hoosiers by a score of 2-0. This win put the Toreros into the Final Four, in Davidson, North Carolina. The final four consis ted of the Toreros, from the West region, Duke University, from the South, and Davidson and Vir– ginia, from the East and North

The 1991-1992 men's soccer season was a very disappoint– ing year. They finished with a sub-.500 record, and finished a dismal third in their conference. This season saw an abundance of new talent, the 1992-1993 Toreros captured first place in the very competitiveWestCoast Conference and went on to fin– ish second place in the Division I championships, losing a heart– breaker to the University of Vir– ginia. The returning players from last year's squad, including high scoring forward Charles Adair, midfield general Toby Taitano, and the defensive strengths of Alex Streicek and David Fuller– ton, came into this year gleam-
