USD Baseball "Boys of summer" The 1992-93 baseball team was prepped to be the most successful Division I baseball team in school history. After a winning '92 sea– son, which saw the Toreros finish 2nd to the National Champion, Pepperdine, in the West Coast Conference, the USO boys of sum– mer were favorites to battle Pepperdine for the league title. The Toreros were led by the "Four amigos," a group of 4-year starters who anchor the USO in– field. The seniors were backed by a strong underclassman corps of returning starters led by Fresh– men All-American Pitcher Mike Saipe. After the Toreros' highest finish ever in the W.C.C. last year, Coach John Cunningham is ready to take USO to the top of the con– ference and post-season action.
