Actors Anonymous

One of the few organizations on campus exclusively run by stu– dents is Actors Anonymous, for– merly known as the Upstage Play– ers. USD's resident student theatre group never fails to grab the atten– tion of the general student popu– lation with th ir sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but always thought provoking plays. "Some– times all we need is a little laugh– ter to relieve the stress and the e plays are just the thing for it," said one student. Usually performed at lunch time on Tuesdays or Thursdays, their productions have included the works of Neil Simon, David Mammet, and others.

SAESO The collegiate experience is far more It is a time of personal growth, moral maturation and self discov– ery: three goals essential to the foundation of SAESO. SAESO, Student Alliance Em– bracing Sexual Orientation, is dedicated to providing a safe environment to assist gay, lesbian, and bisexual students at USD to embrace their sexuality in a positive way. SAESO believes that if one sees one's own sexual orientation in a positive light, it will drastically help in the self-confidence needed to pursue other hopes, dreams, and aspirations. SAESO has a membership of 25 people and m ets weekly to discuss po– litical issues, personal challenges, and the history of the gay, lesbian, and bisexual community. Although SAESO is not ac– tively involved in the USD community, some members feel a strong obligation to educate the USD community and break down the many misconceptions about gays, lesbians, and bisexuals. than academic.
