Engineering Club (IEEE)

Society of Women Engineers

The student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electron ics Engineers, Inc. is a professional organization open to all students. Providing the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, USD faculty members and other universities, the Engineering Club interacts with professionals in a number of career areas within the field.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a professional, non-profit educational service organization of women, including men, and is dedicated to the advancement of women in the engineering profes– sion.

MACS

The Mathematics and Computer Sci– ence (MACS) Club membership consists of students with an interest in comput– ers and/ or math. President Lori Dinges, has focused the club on socially net– working its membership to both inside and outside USD. During the year, they have sponsored expert speakers on top– ics such as fractals, biotechnology, artifi– cial intelligence, and the job market. In the past, members have attended and spoken at academic conferences, includ– ing the MAA. The club also organized trips to such places as the IMAX theatre in Balboa Park, the San Diego Supercomputer Center, and to other lo– cal industries. A highlight of the year was the alumni dinner, where recent graduates expounded on their paths af– ter leaving USD. Participation in the MACS club rounds out the math and computer science experience at USD.
