PASTEL HOW-TO Although pastels are most often associated with spring and summer in interior design and decor, they also blend beautifully with the calming shades of fall. Soft pink is a popular pastel colour and a great foundation. Pair with dark brown or charcoal grey to create a look that is feminine and sophisticated. Light green is another key pastel and comes in many different shades such as soft sage and mint. Pair these greens with each other or with sea foam and light turquoise to transform a space into a tranquil oasis. Speaking of blues, powder blue is always a winner as it invokes natural elements such as the sea and sky. Powder blue and a buttery yellow are a time-tested, yet playful, combination and go well with farmhouse and shabby chic style decor. Try bringing in any of these pastels via accessories such as throw pillows, blankets, ottomans, stools, benches, vases, bookends and candles.
