Key Largo Chamber

November 2017 Vol. 18 No. 11

Chairman’s Report: One Road, One Love

I’ve had the opportunity to work with the talented, hard-working and truly wonderful members of our Board of Directors. I’m looking forward to continuing to serve on the Board as past-Chairperson and member of the Executive Committee and Visitor Center Committee. Above all, I look forward to our Chamber making even greater contributions to our growing, vibrant business community in the future. On November 8th at the Luncheon and Annual Meeting we’ll announce the election results. I’ll be passing the gavel to Roberto Alonso at the installation luncheon on December 13th. Roberto has been very active on the board and has done a great job as Chairman of our Visitor Center Committee. We’ll all benefit from Roberto’s enthusiasm and hard work to move forward with initiatives that are underway. Please give Roberto a standing “O” and then get your dancing shoes ready for a fantastic Chairman’s Gala & Fundraiser, “A Night in Havana”, on January 13, 2018.

Hurricane Irma brought devastation to our islands, yet I see many positive things happening in our community. The aftermath has been heartbreaking, exhausting, discouraging, and downright dirty, but our community has come together in remarkable ways. Even though Hurricane Irma has affected us all, there are heroes and helping hands everywhere, working to make the lives of our neighbors better. Our businesses are reopening and our members are showing tenacity, determination and grit as Key Largo declares, “We are open for business”. I’d like to give a shout out to Chamber President Elizabeth Moscynski, who worked tirelessly during and after Hurricane Irma, providing a voice for our community and demonstrating strong leadership for Key Largo. Thank you Elizabeth for your tremendous energy and effort. And a very special thank you to our members; thank you all for your support and friendships. I’m deeply honored to have served in this leadership position.

Welcome to my last letter as Chairperson of the Chamber. It’s been an amazing year, beginning with the ambitions of nine new Chamber committees and culminating with the monumental recovery efforts to recover from Hurricane Irma. Julie Marshall Chairman of the Board Key Largo Chamber of Commerce
