SEMESTER ONE

In Year 7, the Italian course continues to build and consolidate skills developed in previous years in an interactive and engaging classroom environment. The course book Ecco! Uno, which was used in Year 6, will continue to guide our Year 7 program. Vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, pronunciation and cultural awareness and understanding will be the basis for our language learning while students make personal connections with the Italian language and culture. Students will engage with various forms of authentic written and spoken language to identify ideas, opinions and attitudes in a global and cultural context. Receptive and interpretive skills will be developed through the investigation of topics such as leisure time, the weather, transportation and travel, and food preferences and traditional Italian cuisine. New students will have the opportunity to build knowledge and skills through class revision as well as through the engaging units which will be explored in Year 7. Resources supporting acquisition include online programs, classroom activities, and prescribed text and workbook activities.
