Art and Design
Overview The course aims to inspire students, encouraging creativity whilst equipping them with the skills required to be successful. They will develop a broad base of skills with an initial focus on drawing and painting. Students will also experience other disciplines including 3D ceramics and print making. The course is tightly structured at the start of Year 10 but gradually introduces more choice and by the end of Year 11 students enjoy being more independent and generating their own ideas.

Pathways Further Education: A Level Art & Design / Fine Art Foundation Diploma Art & Design University: Degree in an Arts based subject (eg Fine Art / Illustration / Graphics / Fashion / Textiles / Architecture) Career: Animator, Architect, Ceramics designer, Community arts worker, Fashion designer, Furniture designer, Graphic or Product designer, Illustrator, Interior designer, Jewellery designer, Make-up artist, Photographer, Printmaker, Textile designer.

Component 2: Externally set assignment 40% of GCSE
Preparatory period (sketchbook work) 10 weeks approximately. Supervised exam 10 hours.
