RT Series Airline Respirator

Innovative and Proven Similar to the proven design of the Bullard CC20, the top performing hood in the OSHA-acknowledged ORC Study, the RT Series hood family represents a significant improvement in the realm of Tychem® hood protection. In addition to the recognized benefits of hood-style respirators (no fit testing, no facial hair issues, and accommodates eyewear), the RT Series offers several unique, customer-driven features that make it stand out from other Tychem® hoods. Patented Air Delivery System Air flows into the neck cuff and is then directed through a three- channel air delivery system that delivers the air over the user’s head, down the front of the lens and into the breathing zone. This unique air delivery method provides for a positive seal, minimizes fogging of the lens, minimizes dry eyes and nasal passages, and provides a reservoir of breathing air to help maintain positive pressure. Panoramic View The domed feature of the RT Series hood lens, provides added visibility and allows more light in minimizing the “closed-in,” claustrophobic feeling sometimes experienced in other respirator hoods. A latex-free elastic band located in the neck cuff promotes curvature of the lens while aiding in the neck cuff’s inflation. Long Inner and Outer Bibs The 20” long outer bibs of the RT Series provide splash protection and feature Velcro® straps that connect the front and rear outer bibs providing a custom fit, eliminating the possibility of the bib's “flipping up” during bending or scooping operations and providing added stability to the hood. Inner bibs add an additional barrier between the worker and the contaminants. With the bibs tucked in, the excess air flowing out of the respirator will travel across the user’s body, creating a cooling effect. Material Options The RT Series Hood, made from DuPont™ Tychem®, is available in either Tychem® QC (RT1 and RT3) or Tychem® SL (RT2 and RT4). The RT2 and RT4, constructed of Tychem® SL, feature taped and sealed seams to minimize the potential for any inward leakage at the sewn seams. Tychem® SL is Saranex coated and provides excellent permeation characteristics against more caustic chemicals. Ultimate Disposability The RT Series Hood is available as a stand-alone replacement hood for those applications that allow for decontamination and reuse of the breathing tube. For those applications or processes that do not allow for decontamination, the RT Series is available fully assembled with a disposable lightweight breathing tube. After exiting from the At Bullard’s request, the US Army’s RDECOM (Research Development and Engineering Command) Center performed a Simulated Workplace Protection Factor (SWPF) study using the well-respected ORC Study protocol. Exercises were chosen to simulate activities that may be seen in a pharmaceutical manufacturing application.
