Regulations and Standards for Head and Face Protection

� warning Hard hats are designed to provide limited protection to the head by reducing the force of falling objects striking the top of the hard hat shell. While limited protection is provided in other parts of the shell, this hard hat was not designed to provide front, side or rear impact protection. Avoid contact with electrical wires. NEVER ALTER OR MODIFY THE SHELL OR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. ALWAYS USE BULLARD REPLACEMENT PARTS. Inspect your hard hat shell and suspension regularly. Check for cracks, frayed straps and any signs of damage before each use. Replace the hard hat immediately if you notice any signs of wear, damage, abuse or environmental degradation. If the hard hat has sustained a forcible blow (impact), dispose of it immediately, even if damage is not visible. Failure to follow these warnings could result in death or serious injury. If optional performance features are applicable, the appropriate marking(s) below must be applied in the sequence as shown: - Reverse Donning LT - Lower Temperature HV - High Visibility HT - Higher Temperature Markings for Head Protection According to the ANSI/ISEA standard, hard hats must also contain user information such as instructions pertaining to sizing, care and service life guidelines. Every hard hat conforming to the requirements of ANSI Z89.1-2014 must be appropriately marked to verify its compliance. The following information must be marked inside the hard hat: The manufacturer’s name or identifying mark Date of Manufacture The legend, “ANSI Z89.1-2014” The Type and Class Designation The approximate head size range ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 - Standard for Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Bullard’s industrial faceshields are all tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015, the standard that sets forth criteria for the general requirements, testing, permanent marking, selection, care, and use of protectors to minimize the occurrence and severity or prevention of injuries from such hazards as impact, non-ionizing radiation, and chemical exposures in occupational and education environments including, but not limited to, machinery operations, material welding and cutting, chemical handling, and assembly operations. The standard provides the minimum requirements for protectors including selection, use, and maintenance of these protectors as devices to minimize or prevent eye and face injuries. The standard has tests for Optical Requirements, Physical Requirements, Lens Thickness (for non-impact rated faceshields), and Marking Requirements. Bullard visors conform to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 standard when used in combination with Bullard approved headgear or faceshield brackets. See page 6 for classifications by model number.
