FATHER’S Day at Exbury Gardens and Steam Rail- way is set to be a great day out for all the fami- ly, with a model railway exhibition and half price entry to the gardens for dads. Exbury Gardens is a spectacular 200-acre site, world-famous for the Rothschild Collection of rho- dodendrons, azaleas, camellias and rare trees and shrubs. This Fa- ther’s Day (16th June) dads can ex- plore Exbury’s myriad of pathways for just £6.25, capturing the last of

Exbury’s late-flowering rhododen- drons and deliciously-scented de- ciduous azaleas, as well as the be- ginnings of our summer gardens including the Sundial Garden full of exotic plants, the herbaceous beds and the brand new Cente- nary Garden, unveiled especially in 2019 to celebrate Exbury’s 100th anniversary. On top of all this, dads and kids alike can experience the sights and sounds of a working narrow-gauge steam railway, witnessing the turnstile in action and marvelling at the attention to detail on their replica train station. Exbury’s 12¼” narrow-gauge steam railway

meanders through atmospheric woodland on its 1 ½ mile journey, travelling through tunnels and around lakes. Train rides cost just £5 per person. After their journey, families are invited to explore Exbury’s engine shed, lined with memorabilia re- calling steam’s heyday. This is also home to Exbury’s revered model railway exhibition, which will in- clude an array of static layouts and live displays across a variety of scales, gauges and eras. This exhi- bition is free with gardens entry or membership.
