Hand Building Ceramics with Ann Cooper Location: Cape Coral Art Center Learn the basics of hand-built pottery. Students will use hand building techniques including pinch pots, coil building and slab construction to create unique functional and sculptural pieces. Experimentation with color, texture and pattern is highly encour aged. A variety of surface decoration techniques are introduced in addition to glazing. Experienced ceramic students wishing to pursue independent practice to enhance their skills or add to their body of work are welcome. Raku is not available in this course. They will learn how to use oils, color values, blending, shading, how to make flesh look life like, capturing the likeness of the subject, and how to give portraits a 3-dimensional look. An underpainting will be completed and then students will move on to the overpainting. For the first class, stu dents will create a small painting and we’ll discuss their next project. Students are encouraged to bring picture references of what they’d like to paint for their next project. No class on 1/19/2026 and 2/16/2026.
