The Troy License Bureau, a Missouri Department of Revenue contract office managed by Koester & Koester, LLC is located at 850 E Cherry Street, Suite D, in Troy. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and the last Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon. Drivers Licenses - A Missouri driver’s license is required of any resident of the state, age 16 and older who plans to operate a motor vehicle. - A restricted temporary instruction permit will be issued to a resident 15 years old who has passed the required written tests and has written parental permission. - Operators’ licenses, valid for six years, are offered to Missouri residents (various restrictions apply). Duplicate licenses, for cases when a license is lost or stolen, are available for an additional fee. - Out of state drivers must obtain a Missouri driver’s license upon establishing residency. - Missouri law requires all applications to provide documentation before a driver’s li- cense, nondriver license or instruction permit can be issued. All applicants must present and surrender their current driver or non driver license in addition to the needed documentation. Box is not acceptable as a proof of Driver’s Exam are required for those applying for: a first-time Missouri driver’s license; if a license has expired longer than six-months, if the Department of Revenue asks the driver to take the exam; or if a license has been revoked. The testing center is located at 251 West Collier Street. Exams are given on the first, third and fifth Monday and every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Driver’s Exam includes a written test, vision test, and driving test. Licenses are then issued by the license bureau. For a copy of the Missouri Driver Guide go to Sales Tax - Sales tax on vehicles is determined by where a resident lives. In Lincoln County, sales tax is 2.25%. If a resident lives in the city limits of Troy, sales tax is 4.25% and the Missouri sales tax is 4.225%. - Vehicle Plates: To plate a vehicle you need the following: proof of ownership, current safety inspection, previous year’s personal property receipt, acceptable proof of insurance - The cost for vehicle license vary. Car license are determined by horsepower. Truck license costs are determined by load carried and distance traveled. Personalized and special vehicle licenses cost $15.00 with a variety of licenses available. Watercraft is also required to be registered and titled for boats and outboard motors. Boat fees are determined by length of boat. Voter Registration Voter registration is now offered by license offices.
