Northern Territory

NT 59 members as at December 2018

THE SPEECH PATHOLOGY TEAM from Carpentaria recently expanded to four paediatric and three adult clinicians. Prior to Christmas, staff were pleased to relocate into a new space in the Harry’s Place Administration Building which features eight custom therapy rooms. These rooms are shared with occupational therapy, physiotherapy and psychology, and the team share a large office space to support interdisciplinary collaboration. The speech pathologists are looking forward to sharing their new space when they host the speech pathology Australia NT branch meeting in July. The NDIS continues to roll out across the Northern Territory, enabling Carpentaria to service more people from Darwin and surrounds, with some clients travelling from as far as Jabiru Providing support services to Territorians with a disability

and Tennant Creek. Therapists will also continue to fly and drive to remote communities in East and West Arnhem Land, utilising teleconference technology between visits. Carpentaria speech pathologists are planning exciting professional development opportunities this year. Nicola Sheppard will attend the AGOSCI Conference in Perth and is looking forward to sharing new resources and technologies with the team. Georgia Chin is registered to attend the Introduction to Paediatric Feeding Workshop, hosted by the Queensland Children’s Hospital in February. Georgia is excited to further develop her skills in dysphagia assessment and management.
