It'd be a mistake to pigeonholeWollongong trioTotty as Another Australian Indie Band. Caught between always having a good time and writing relatable, guitar-driven songs that leave a big ol’ smile on your dial,Totty are right at the pointy end of bands not to miss at BIGSOUND this year. TOTTY What sets your music apart? We're definitely a loud rock band first and foremost; being fromWollongong, we've taken as much from bands like Tumbleweed as we have from bands like Hockey Dad. I think the energy in our performance and honesty in our songwriting are probably the most defining factors that set us apart. Which movie scene would your latest single suit? Something where there’s someone real powerful making everybody listen to them. Basically, if Uncomfortable was in any scene in Kill Bill we'd be pretty happy. Give us your best useless fact. Nutella has a 7.5 SPF rating. You can thank us when summer rolls around. Which BIGSOUND acts are you looking forward to seeing? WALKEN, because they are really good mates of ours and they just put out an amazing EP that we can’t wait to see live, and Slowly Slowly, because we get to spend ages on tour with them really soon.

What sets your music apart? We’ve grown up inspired by many '90s and early '00s bands. I think we’ve developed our own sound through the influence of those bands along with newer artists and music we really like. working on their debut release, and you'll likely hear some of that material at the act's BIGSOUND performances. Which movie scene would your latest single suit? I’ve read at least three reviews that said our music could fit well into the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack. Fresh but nostalgic – that’s the beautiful contradiction of Eliza & the Delusionals. The Gold Coast band have been slaving away in the studio ELIZA & THE DELUSIONALS

What sets your music apart? TOUGH question. Super difficult for musicians to demonstrate their non- problematic traits. I’d say I’m a very subconscious writer. I never intend to say anything, but whatever comes out always has truth. I’d like to say the music is an intimate yet explosive occasion. Good things come to those who wait; riding the wave of her Queensland Music Award andVanda &Young Songwriting Competition nominations, Brisbane indie darling Asha Jefferies has been cooking up a new EP – due October. Which movie scene would your latest single suit? Probably that really wholesome scene at the end of The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy wakes up in her bed and she chills out cause she’s home and doesn’t have to face any wicked witch or follow a never-ending yellow brick road. ASHA JEFFERIES All I can really say is that I’ve never put so much thought, care and attention into any rehearsal for a live performance ever. Lots of feelings are going to go outwards. Which BIGSOUND acts are you looking forward to seeing? I am actually in love with MERPIRE, her music is so indulgent and floral, and her voice floors me. What can we expect from you at BIGSOUND next month?

Give us your best useless fact. In Texas it’s illegal to graffiti a cow.

Which BIGSOUND acts are you looking forward to seeing? It’s hard to choose just one! We’re definitely looking forward to seeing Clews, we love them. The line-up is so stacked with amazing artists this year.
