UC Merced global grant

Q: I will be an international student, but I am not in the United States on an F-1 visa. Am I still eligible for the Global Grant? A: UC Merced can sponsor eligible admitted students for F-1 visas. Q: If I meet the criteria for the Global Grant what must I do next? A: You do not need to do anything else. If you meet all the criteria, then the campus will automatically consider you for the grant. The award will be posted as a “credit” on your UC Merced bill.

Q: How long will the Global Grant be available? A: As long as the student maintains the qualifications, the grant will be renewed automatically each semester. Q: Will the Global Grant be o ered during the summer if I take summer courses? A: The Global Grant is only o ered during the fall and spring semesters. Q: How many units is considered ‘full time’ for the purpose of the grant? A: You must be enrolled in at least 12 units each semester to qualify for the grant.

Beginning with the Fall 2010 class, UC Merced will award a $5,000 per year ($2,500 for the Fall and $2,500 for the Spring) Global Grant to qualified international undergraduate students in UC Merced-sponsored F-1 visa status. The grant is o ered to o set a portion of UC non-resident tuition and fees for new and transfer international students and is UC Merced’s commitment to bringing highly qualified students from all parts of the world to the University of California.
