Psychologists

Speech-Language Pathologists BUSHkids has provided a clear framework in the last 12 months to guide the development of intervention services in our communities and many changes have occurred to streamline processes.

This year has seen exciting changes for Psychology, with the recruitment of new staff and the establishment of new practice guidelines to ensure consistency of psychology practice across the organisation. A number of shared Professional Development opportunities and events in Brisbane has strengthened the team’s identity and passion for advancing psychology practice within BUSHkids.

THEYEAR IN GENERAL

With hard work and commitment, the Psychology team has successfully achieved a number of team goals over the past year, including: • Re-orientation of service to provide a family-centred approach that prioritises early intervention • Service provision to older children that is tailored, time-limited and based on evidence-based programs • A review of cognitive assessments and the development of a standardised assessment package. This has included the ordering of new tools to ensure we offer a comprehensive range of testing • Identifying and establishing a consistent psychology role within multidisciplinary assessment and intervention • Identifying possible group programs for psychology • Linking in with local stakeholders and establishing good referral linkages • Increasing activity levels

It has been a year of innovation for our Speech- Language Pathology team in terms of service delivery. We have explored options for clinical intervention, targeted groups and capacity-building suitable to incorporate into our range of practice.
