11. Gas-discharge lamps

11.1. Xenon lamps structure High Intensity Discharge lamps (HID) are also known as Xenon lamps. They belong to the high pressure discharge lamp family.

The arc within HID bulbs generates ultraviolet (UV) light; a UV-absorbing glass shield is incorporated around the bulb’s arc tube to prevent degradation of UV-sensitive components and materials. In headlamps these components are polycarbonate lenses and reflector coatings. D2R Type bulb Similar to H4 Halogen lamps, D2R use a “cut-off shield”.
