Signalling From rear combi-lamps, to fender-lamps, trunk- lamps and bumper-lamps, the signalling product- line offers a wide diversity of designs. Similarly to the lighting function, the signalling function evolved a lot from historical lamp products to the most sophisticated laser etched and light- guide designs. Lamps are cost effective, they are still used in many signalling applications. Will LEDs one day totally overcome the lamps? Yes it is very likely they will. Technology is moving fast and Organic LEDs (OLEDs) could as well rise as one outsider for signalling, the future will tell us.

The signalling has a major function to vehicle safety, it permits distance communication to other vehicles by indicating presence and direction changes.

Valeo first introduced a rear lamp with LED technology for the Volkswagen Golf V in 2005.
