Friday, May 3 rd – Finnan Haddie Dinner! Join CUMC at the Parish House on May 3 rd from 5 – 6:30 PM for a Finnan Haddie Dinner. (Don’t know what that is? Finnan Haddie is smoked haddock). Cost is $7 per person, $25 maximum for a family. Proceeds will benefit our growing Sunday School program! Saturday, May 18th – Mandala Rock Painting with Linda Carleton— Linda Carleton will be coming out to the island on Saturday, May 18 th from 9 – 11:30 at the Parish House to do a workshop on how to do mandala rock painting. Cost is $3 to help cover paint and materials. (If cost is an issue, please speak with Pastor Melissa). Feel free to bring a few of your own rocks to paint (rocks should be about two inches in size, smooth, and slightly round or egg-shaped), or we’ll have some to spare at the Parish House. Food Pantry Items — Our food pantry is always in need of donations (both monetary and foodstuff) to help our island neighbors. Some items that we find get distributed quickly are: products with low/no salt or low/ no sugar, nut butters, gluten free items, and decaf and regular coffee. Next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up an extra item or two to donate to your island food pantry! (As a reminder, we are unable to distribute items that are open or expired). Miss a Sunday in Worship?— You can always visit our website at www.chebeagueumc.org and click on the link to read Pastor Melissa’s recent sermons. You can also find out what’s going on by checking out the church

calendar or our curren events page – all available from the front page of our website. Reconciling Congregation Discernment Process— To live more fully into CUMC’s vision and mission, our congregation is taking steps to become inclusive of every person who comes through our sanctuary doors. As part of this process, we’ll have several opportunities for learning and conversation about how to be inclusive of our LGBTQ sisters and brothers.

In May, we will have two more open conversations in the Parish House – a time for questions, sharing, and listening. These dates are: Sunday, May 5 th at 3 PM, and Wednesday, May 15 th from 7 PM - 8:30 PM. We will also have a question box in the Parish House, where anyone can drop a question about what it means to be a Reconciling Congregation, how this decision will impact the community, or anything regarding this process that will help you understand the issues. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Melissa, Jackie Trask, Karen Corson, or Polly Wentworth.
