BIS Lobby Exhibition

Fundamentals in Oil and Gas Training Course

As part of the ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ campaign, Oil & Gas UK co-ordinated an exhibition in the BIS lobby in London. The two-week exhibition highlighted some of the technologies used in oil and gas exploration and production and was officially opened by the Energy/BIS Minister Michael Fallon. Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive Malcolm Webb chaired the conference organising committee for Offshore Europe 2013. An unprecedented eight government leaders spoke at the event including the First Minister, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Secretary of State for Business and Energy, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury and the Scottish Energy Minister. Oil & Gas UK facilitated membership engagement with politicians and officials from all levels of parliament, government and opposition parties throughout the UK. Members have been able to interact with senior decision makers through business breakfasts and lunches, conferences, private dinners, site visits, announcements and drinks receptions. They have seized opportunities to present to the All Party and Cross Party Groups for the British Offshore Oil and Gas Industry in Westminster and Holyrood, for which Oil & Gas UK provides the secretariats. Oil & Gas UK launched its first training course, Fundamentals in Oil and Gas , in September.

Publications

Nearly 40 publications and guidelines were published by Oil & Gas UK in 2013, including: The Health & Safety Report , which included a new section on offshore helicopter safety

The annual Activity Survey and Economic Reports

The Environment Report , new for 2013

- New or updated guidance on a broad range of topics including Security for Offshore Installation Managers, a Framework for Risk Related Decision Support, Hydrocarbon Release Reporting, Decommissioning Cost Estimation, Mooring Integrity , and Relief Well Planning Requirements
