Oil & Gas UK Annual Review 2013

ANNUAL REVIEW 2013

Highlights of 2013: Contractor Chairman

2013 has been a good year for the oil and gas supply chain. Record operator investment in new developments and existing assets and infrastructure has translated into thousands of jobs being created across the UK, increased tax revenues arising from oil and gas production and growing exports from our burgeoning supply chain. Oil & Gas UK’s strategic objective to sustain and promote the growth of the UK industry’s supply chain, in both domestic and international markets, led to the organisation playing a key role in the development of the government’s industrial strategy for oil and gas. It has led to the formation of the Oil and Gas Industry Council which provides a forum where relevant issues for the oil and gas supply chain can be discussed with BIS, DECC and the Scottish Government. In its pursuit of strengthening the long-term health of the UK offshore oil and gas industry over the course of 2013, Oil & Gas UK has enjoyed considerable growth in its membership, particularly from contractor companies. Contractors now make up 85 per cent of the 400- strong membership.

My highlights of 2013 would include:

• The launch and continuing development of the Oil & Gas Industrial Strategy • Robust membership growth • Engagement with the military on skills and employment The challenges of Oil & Gas UK’s successful growth are being met and all areas of the association are being analysed to ensure that contractor members continue to derive excellent value from their participation in the association.
