Task Force Recommendations to AOAC Board of Directors • Identified Areas of Work in support of availability and standardization of analytical methods to be used by food industry and regulators • Nontargeted Testing Methods are used to support authenticity of a given ingredient without targeting a specific adulterant – rely on methodological signature (characteristics) of the ingredient(s) • Targeted Testing Methods target the presence of a given adulterant in an ingredient • Two (2) Working Groups formed during March 2018 Midyear Meeting Task Force Completes Its Tasks AOAC Board of Directors closes Task Force • Task Force achieved its objectives and Food Fraud will be included as part of regular AOAC Initiatives • Two Working Groups Formed • NTT WG to develop Standards Methods Performance Requirements (SMPRs) for such methods to be used in prevention and early detection of food fraud incidents – Chaired by Dr. John Szpylka, Mérieux NutriSciences • TT WG to m ap existing methods, their status, needs for method development and Standardization – Chaired by Dr. Joe Boison, Independent Consultant • Significant number of people signed up to participate in AOAC Food Fraud and in one of the working groups… so, NOW WHAT????
