Aluminium RBD processes make stronger and better wire using low- friction Nano dies. This provides much better performance than TC or PCD dies, made possible by vastly improved diamond die technology. These dies can be used for wire drawing and compacting copper, aluminium, alumi- nium alloy, nickel, low carbon, stainless steel, copper and brass tube and it can be made from 3mm to 72mm. Question : What are the other special products and services provided by you? Answer : Carbide pressure die. For high and low carbon, the company has developed pressure dies for long life. These dies are used for dry and wet drawing, respectively. With its revolutionary concept of disassembling die, it improves lubrication, gives 30 per cent more nib or pallet life and produces higher quality wire. The pressure dies contributes significantly to an increase drawing speeds and improve productivity at the wire plant. By using the pressure dies, the re-cutting or refurbishment is very much eliminated and the wire drawing speed also increases up to 50m per second. This performance can be achieved with Ajex pressure dies and drawing inserts.

The importance of wire India is highlighted in this interview with Jai Shanker Gupta, managing director of Ajex & Turner. Question : Tell us about the importance of dies in the wire drawing process? Answer : A die plays an important role in the drawing process. It is a tool to produce a reduced cross section of wire with a consistent size tolerance. Its primary functions are to reduce the diameter (cross-section) of the wire drawn through it; to improve the surface finish of the wire drawn; and to size (calibrate) accurately the diameter (cross-section) of the wire drawn through it. Question : What kind of research and innovation, both with regard to process and die technology, propels your product development Answer : Nano dies: After studying how to make cost-effective dies, Ajex & Turner has developed Nano dies, which are replacing PCD with more wear resistance, and extremely smooth surface with immensely low friction. This leads to savings in metal, which is the basic raw material of the industry.

Re-cutting services: For the wire drawing industry the cost of the dies plays a very important role. Ajex has developed many machines for die polishing and re-cutting for carbide and polycrystalline. Die cleaning: Dies which are running one to three shifts need periodic cleaning for smooth performance and long life. For the same purpose the company has developed die-cleaning solutions with ultrasonic machines, developed in two parts for longer life.
