The Psychiatry Clerkship introduces students to the care of inpatient and ambulatory psychiatric patients. Students gain competency in the basic assessment and management of the psychiatric patient through the ability to understand and treat psychopathology, learn interview techniques, understand diagnostic criteria used to diagnose psychiatric disorders, and to develop an understanding of the psychopharmacology involved. Rotations in this core clerkship are designed to allow adequate exposure to psychiatry patients of all ages including child/adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

This rotation was great because it truly prepared students for their SHELF and Step 2 CK Exams. From the willingness of the physicians to teach to the schedule of didactics, I feel that it set students up for success. – Christian S., Medical Student I was able to see a variety of patients with many psychiatric conditions. The attendings and residents are open for questions and are willing to teach. – Lan N., Medical Student The faculty were the friendliest, all were willing to teach and accommodating to students. It was by far the best clinical experience I've ever had. – Eloy A., Medical Student

The Pediatrics Clerkship rotation offers both ambulatory and inpatient experiences. Students benefit from treating a variety of pediatric pathology. They also have opportunities to explore aspects of preventative medicine and psycho-social-environmental factors that relate directly to the care of infants, children, adolescents, and their families.

Students aregiven the roleof actingas residents which is highly beneficial in advancing our management plan skills and clinical knowledge. – Lidice G., Medical Student Faculty are great educators, and really pushed us to start thinking as physicians. Although this was a lot of pressure, I was thankful to be pushed out of my comfort zone and felt I grew a lot as a future physician during this rotation. – Sangamithra S., Medical Student Well rounded experience of NICU, newborns and pediatrics during inpatient. Didactic was helpful and the jeopardy/trivia covered a lot of high yield pediatric SHELF topics. Faculty are excellent at teaching! – Sinyun L., Medical Student
