Ricky Recorder Issue No 45

The Ricky Recorder

Issue 45: July 2017

I would like to thank Mr Crane for organising Sports Day and Mrs Pickford for Active Learning Week. Our two national finalists in the Pearson Teaching Awards, Mrs Cramp and Mr la Grange were invited to the House of Commons in July along with the other 56 finalists. In October we await to see the outcome of the Awards at a televised ceremony at the Royal Opera House. We look forward to hearing the outcome and fingers crossed for Mrs Cramp and Mr la Grange! During the summer the Music block is being completely refurbished. A new roof and windows have already been installed and now the inside is being transformed. It will include two teaching areas, new IT equipment, practise rooms, a recording studio and a storage area for school and

Welcome to our Summer edition of the Ricky Recorder, the final of this academic year.

We have had great success with our sporting events which culminated in our Sports Day in July. Students took part in field and track events, hand ball and swimming. Our new Houses were almost neck and neck until the final relays of the afternoon; I think everyone there would say the tension was brought to the head by Mr Gunn’s commentary at this point. In the end Stockers were victorious – well done to them and all the students and staff taking part. During our Active Learning Week, we have had residential trips to France, Germany and Spain and local visits to the theatre, Natural History Museum, Quasar, sailing, to name a few, as well as workshops such as First Aid, Enterprise and Film Making.
