Ken Stills joins the USO staff where he will coach

the Toreros' secondary.

He brings a wealth of coaching experience having wilririi coached at the high school,junior college, college and professional ranks over the past twelve seasons. His most recent post was as head coach with the River City Rage in the United Indoor Football League (St. Charles, Missouri) with the team earning Eastern Conference Champion Run– ner-up. Prior to that he was defensive back coach for NFLE Frankfurt Galaxy between 2003-2007. They won the World Bowl Championship in 2006 & 2003, and were World Bowl participants in 2007 & 2004. He returns to USO where he was on the coach-

ing staff in 1999. From nearby Oceanside, he prepped at El Camino HS (1977-81 ); played two years at El Camino College (1981-83); and finished his collegiate career at Wisconsin (1983-85) where he was a Big Ten performer. He was an 8th round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 1985, and played in their organization until 1990. He played his last two seasons in the NFL with Minnesota (1990-91 ). Jon Sumrall is in his third year as the defensive line

coach at the University of San Diego. He also serves as USD's recruiting coordinator and camp coordinator. He came to the University of San Diego from the University of Kentucky, where he worked with USO head coach Ron Caragher. In 2007 Sumrall coached defensive end Eric Bakhtiari

who was a 2007 Walter Camp First Team All American and an AP First Team All American in the Football Champion– ship Subdivision. Bakhtiari also earned honors as a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, Pioneer Football League De– fensive Player of the Year, and USD's Defensive MVP. Bakthi– ari's season totals for 2007 were 76 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, and 20 sacks. The 20 sacks led the FCS for sacks in the 2007 season. Sumrall also oversaw the development of defensive tackle Alex Rice who was tabbed as USD's Most Improved Defensive Player of the Year by the Torero's coaching staff. Sumrall spent two seasons (2005-2006) serving as the defensive graduate assistant at his alma mater, the Uni– versity of Kentucky. In 2006 Kentucky recorded an 8-5 record and finished the season with a victory over Clemson in the Music City Bowl. While at Kentucky he worked with the linebackers and the secondary. He also had a lead responsibility in breaking down opponent film, organizing scouting reports, handling "self scout" of UK tenden– cies, and running the offensive scout team. As a collegiate player Sumrall was a three-year letterman at middle linebacker for the Kentucky Wildcats from 2002-04. His best season came in 2004 when he started every game while leading the team with 72 tackles. As a high school player at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama, Sumrall was a two time all-state performer and a four year letterman. Sumrall completed his bachelor's degree in finance and is working on a master's degree in sports leadership. While in college he was a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and also was selected for the Frank G. Ham Society of Character by UK Athletics.

Andrew Rolin enters his first year on the Torero

football staff as an Undergraduate Assistant.

No stranger to Torero football, Rolin was a member of the football team for three seasons (2005-2007), and competed at the quarterback position in 2006-2007. He missed the 2008 campaign following a lower back injury. In 2007 he appeared in 7 games and completed 20-of-28 passes for 249 yards and 5 touchdowns. He started the road opener at Azusa Pacific and completed 12-of-16 passes for 177 yards and 4 touchdowns in the team's 42-32 victory. In 2006 he appeared in 6 games, and sat out the 2005 season as a redshirt. Prior to USO he attended Cordova High School where in his senior year he passed for 1,500 yards. He was named team captain,

offensive MVP and All-Sierra Valley Conference. Rolin also earned All-League honors in basketball. He is currently finishing up his work on his Business Administration degree.
