Notable: JT was granted a sixth year by the NCAA after going down with a season– ending knee injury in the first quarter of last year's opener against Marist... From 2005- 2007 JT played a key role in USD's success with the Tore– ros going a combined 31-4 with back-to-back Mid-Ma– jor National Championships (2005 & 2006) and three PFL titles... A versatile player, he is a four-way threat as a rusher, receiver, kick returner and oc– casional passer... He enters the 2009 campaign as the program's all-time leader in rushing yards (3,013), touchdowns (47) and all-purpose yard– age {5,344). USO: JT returns for his sixth and final year with the Toreros where he will once again play a key role in both the running game and with special teams... In 2007 he earned First Team FCS All-America honors from The Sports Network after leading the nation in kickoff returns (33.2 ave.)... He also led the team in rushing {1,021 yards and 10 TDs) while chip– ping in with 30 receptions for 331 yards and 7 TDs... He tallied a team-best 108 points... He rushed for more than 100 yards in six games with a best of 154 at Morehead State... He found the endzone four times in home win over Jacksonville... He returned a 94-yard kick– off for a touchdown against Northern Colorado...Was named a PFL Player of the Week on three different occasions... In 2006 he was tabbed First Team AII-PFL with solid numbers across the board... Named USO Offensive Player of the Year... In the rushing department he led the team with 190 carries for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns... He ranked fourth on the team in receptions with 28 catches for 313 yards and two scores... He returned 12 kickoffs for 347 yards (28.9 ave.), including a 93 yard return for a touchdown against Valparai so... He was a perfect 2-for-2 in the passing department with both tosses going for scores (42 & 25 yards) ... He totaled four games with 100+ rushing yards led by 173 at Drake and 151 at Davidson... He also tallied five games with 2 rushing scores. In 2005 he led the Toreros with 944 yards on the ground and 7 rushing touchdowns... He totaled 36 receptions for 320 yards and 4 scores...Tallied 5 games with 100 or more yards of rushing, including 180 yards and 3 TDs in win at Dayton (named PFL Offensive Player of the Week for his effort) ... Added 176 yards on the ground and 9 receptions for 92 yards in key PFL win over Drake... Tied for 2nd on the team in points with 66... Sat out the 2004 season as a redshirt. High School: Led Coronado to a 9-2 record and earned All-State honors with over 1,700 yards rushing his senior year... Rushed for over 1,000 yards and named All-League for the 2002 Harbor League Champions... Was his team's leading tackler, rusher and receiver his sophomore season... Also a two-time All-League baseball player. Personal: Born on June 13, 1986 in La Jolla, CA... Also recruited by Penn, Dartmouth and Redlands... Chose USO to get a good education while staying close to home... Started a used textbook store... Started San Diego County Football Camp for youth... Enjoys dead– lifting in the gym...
