By the end of Unit 2, students will be able to: ● fnd the key features of a quadratic function and interpret what they mean in the context of the problem ● factor a quadratic equation ● describe transformations on quadratic equations using correct math vocabulary such as: ○ horizontal shift, line of symmetry, refection, vertex, vertical shift, vertical stretch, parabola, vertex form ● graph quadratic functions given certain key features SCAFFOLDING IN ACTION

● Lesson 2.1: Launch - graphic organizer for problem 3 with table & larger grid, Explore - chunk problems 5 - 9 by focusing on one transformation at a a time, 3 column graphic organizer, Discuss - Think-Pair-Share ● Lesson 2.2 - Explore - chunk the task to give student more frequent feedback ● Lesson 2.3 - Launch - Notice and Wonder, Explore - use technology such as Desmos or graphing calculators, to visualize connections between coeffcients ● Lesson 2.4: Explore - use manipulatives to visualize completing the square, Discuss - in small groups, assign each group a problem to chart and display in the classroom, each group share out ● Lesson 2.5: Explore - chunk the task by presenting 3-4, 5-6, & 7-8, do a check for understanding between each set of problems, use manipulatives or technology, ● Lesson 2.6: Explore - use algebra tiles or manipulatives, represent tiles with diagrams, ● Lesson 2.7: Launch - use technology Desmo/graphing calculators ● Lesson 2.8: Explore - chunk the task and present one problem at a time ● Lesson 2.9: Launch - chunk problem 4 ● Lesson 2.10: Discuss - use a concept map to organize information
