A different viewpoint: Chillida and Oteiza

San Sebastián has even more beauty on offer: if the natural scenery is astounding, the good taste of the locals has strived to make the squares, streets and buildings even more so. In the sculptures of 'El Peine del Viento' (The Comb of the Wind), you can admire the artistic collaboration of Chillida and Peña Ganchegui. The piece by Jorge de Oteiza, 'Construcción Vacía' or 'Empty construction', withstands the winds and tides on the Paseo Nuevo and the 'Sagrado Corazón' or 'Sacred Heart', by Collaut, keeps watch over the city and the surrounding area from up on high on Mount Urgull.

a San Sebastián has three city beaches: Ondarreta, La Concha and Zurriola. The first two of these are located around La Concha Bay and the third is in the Gros neighbourhood, across the Urumea River. The beauty of the hills that surround the city is astounding: Urgull , with its castle, Ulía with its restaurants, paths and walking routes, and Mount Igueldo , which you can climb on foot, by car or on the funicular railway. From up high, you can appreciate the magnificent panoramic view of La Concha Bay and let your hair down in its century old amusement park after sampling some of its local restaurants. The Island of Santa Clara, in the middle of the bay, with its café, lighthouse and small beach, makes for a great visit.
