...every bar hides a treasure in the VIEJA PARTE

The traditional limits of the Parte Vieja of San Sebastián are found on the Calle Mayor, with the Basilica of Santa María del Coro (where the pintxo route starts!), Fermín Calbetón Street, the non-stop street of 31 de Agosto – with its souvenir shops – and the Plaza de La Trinidad, stage of traditional Basque rural sport, Basque pelota, along with musical extravanganzas and the International Jazz Festival, near to the San Vicente Church.

of La Mota, through the Cementerio de los Ingleses (The English Cemetery) and past the charming old bank of cannons, Las Cañones de las Damas, where a range of activities for kids take place. When visiting the port it doesn't matter if it's raining. From the portside, next to the sea wall, you can admire the houses of the arrantzales (fishermen), the fish market, known affectionately as ‘the aircraft carrier' by the locals. Try a cone of karrakelas (snails), kiskillas (small shrimps) and prawns, in the stalls along the sea wall.

In the Plaza de la Constitución , you can stop for a rest. With its many balconies, there are a number of comfortable terraces to choose from to watch life in the city go by. If you are interested in art and culture, don't miss the San Telmo Museum, located in the Parte Vieja. Its new pavillion, with its recent extension, is considered an architectural jewel, located between the city landscape and Mount Urgull. And for a great view of the coast and inland, be sure to go up to the Castle
