O n August 24 th the Route 11 Streakers SC in Limerick held their 4 th annual Robert (T-Bone) Libby Jr BBQ cookoff. There were nine cookoff participants and approximately 100 people in attendance to judge some amaz ing BBQ food. While pork was in the majority there was also mac aroni and cheese, chicken wings, chicken sliders, candied bacon, and a Thanksgiving dinner BBQ style along with other foods to sample. Attendees paid a fee and were allowed to sample as many foods as they wanted and vote on their favorites. The competition was stiff and all cookoff partic ipants did a wonderful job. The top three competitors received a cash prize: $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place and $500 for third place. This event is a memorial to Rob ert (T-Bone) Libby Jr who passed away in an accident 22 years ago. His parents, Robert and Muriel Libby and his wife, Michelle Baron along with Michelle’s cur rent husband Matt Baron, Joe Walsh, and the Route 11 Streak ers SC started this event to raise funds to present to an organiza tion for their choice. In 2024 the event raised enough money for

the MSA Scholarship Committee to award two $1500 scholarships inT-Bone’s name which were pre sented by MSA and members of his family at the MSA annual banquet in April 2025. The temperature the day of the event was in the mid 80’s and the temperature of the cookoff par ticipants was higher than that! It was fierce competition between all nine competitors as they tried to impress the audience judges with their BBQ skills. In the end the winners were: 3 rd place for the second year in a row, Jason Solomon with his Under Dawg Wings, 2 nd place was Braeden Goodnough with his pulled pork and 1 st place was Chris and Shan tel with their pulled pork mac and cheese. Along with the BBQ competition there were displays and a raf fle of various prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. MSA Youth Snowmobiler of the Year Joe Walsh Jr. who is a very active member of the club was also a cookoff competitor. Joe was introduced to those in atten dance and it was announced all money from the raffle was going to help Joe pay for the club’s new groomer sled, which will be

his. The club received a capital equipment grant for a portion of the sled price and Joe along with help from Matt Baron will be rais ing the remaining portion. Three members of the MSA Scholarship Committee, Barry and Gail Ryan and Eileen Lafland, as well as past MSA president Marion Pinkham attended the event. They displayed MSA infor mation, and answered ques tions as well as promoted the MSA Snowmobile and Power sports Show being held in Octo ber. Barry was even seen sell ing Super Raffle tickets for the Route 11 Streakers SC and Gail was seen wearing a Route 11 tee shirt. It was a wonderful event for a great cause. Everyone that left went home with full bellies and a good feeling knowing they contributed to great causes. The MSA Scholarship Commit tee would like to thankThe Libby family and the Route 11 Streakers SC for their generosity in con tributing to the fund to assist stu dents of any age to further their education. With your support two students are attending col leges of their choice and receiv ing financial support in memory ofT-Bone Robert Libby Jr.
